ABA session length is usually three hours per day, five days per week, but this will vary based on each learner’s needs.
The length of service varies depending on the learner’s treatment needs and the success toward completion of the identified goals. Research has shown that ABA therapy over two to three years can deliver significant results.
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) and therapies based on its principles are the most researched and commonly used behavioral interventions for autism. Research has shown that ABA therapy is the most effective treatment method resulting in higher functioning and greater independence in living, especially among those who have received ABA therapy as children.
Genesis Autism Center has a focus on Happy, Relaxed, and Engaged (HRE) ABA to teach learners with Autism, intellectual disabilities, and developmental delays. ABA strives to improve socially significant behaviors that assist learners with improving independence and skills in areas such as:
The goal of ABA is to help learners gain more independence not to change their personality. ABA uses and builds upon the child’s interests and strengths during sessions to help them thrive.
ABA is an evidence-based science dedicated to understanding behavior and improving the quality of life for learners. This is done by examining the interactions between an individual and his or her environment to determine the contingencies that are maintaining behaviors. An individualized treatment plan is designed to modify how maladaptive behaviors are being prompted and what response is followed while teaching new replacement skills. A reliable measurement system will be utilized to monitor ongoing progress.
While providing ABA therapy, we will measure skills, behaviors, and evaluate treatment goals to ensure your learner reaches their highest level of potential. The foundational aspect of ABA is data-driven analysis. We will utilize data to continually evaluate your learner’s progress based on their individualized and customized goals to ensure that treatment is effective. Collected data will inform our therapist’s decisions and help us make any needed adjustments to deliver the best results.
Improved Thinking & Learning: ABA breaks down the learning process into easy steps that will help build comprehension. Repetition will bring mastery of simple and complex tasks that learners will fully grasp.
Real-life Application: ABA teaches skills in a way where children’s learning can be applied to everyday life.
Stronger Motivation: Our research-based approach brings discovery of the activities that each individual child enjoys. Our dedicated team of professionals will use these activities to motivate clients with needed reinforcement.
Empowering Parents & Caregivers: With ABA, parents and caregivers are partners on the therapy journey to reinforce lessons learned. Genesis ABA will equip parents and caregivers with the tools and resources needed to manage behaviors more effectively at home and while out in the community. We realize the challenges of ASD on families and are here for you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Measurable Results: The foundational aspect of ABA is data-driven analysis. We will continually evaluate your child’s progress against their individualized and customized treatment goals to ensure that treatment is effective. Collected data will inform our therapist’s decisions and help us make any needed adjustments to deliver the best results. Treatment plans will be evaluated throughout the year, so you can trust that our team of specialists will make the right decisions to deliver the most effective care.
Learners with ASD often benefit from different types of early interventions such as OT, speech therapy, and ABA. ABA has a different focus to understand behavior and improve the quality of life through individually designed treatment plans. ABA is also more frequent and intensive than OT and speech therapy. A learner can receive all of these services and the therapists will coordinate efforts to provide the best services possible.
We place a high value on partnering with parents and guardians but after briefly connecting with your learner’s therapist, you do not need to stay during the ABA session.
We provide Autism Testing and Diagnosis along with Parent Support for our learners to enhance ABA therapy. We coordinate care with other providers for Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy, if needed.
Our services are based in the Genesis Autism Center clinic so that our therapists can focus their time completely on helping your learner. We can make referrals to other agencies that offer in-home ABA, if needed.
We believe the best results from ABA therapy take place in person, so we do not offer telehealth sessions for ABA sessions. We can provide telehealth for parent/guardian training sessions and parent/guardian groups.
We provide “Early Intervention” services for ages 18 months – 8 years old. Early detection and intervention can improve learning, communication, and social skills, as well as underlying brain development.
Yes, your child will need to receive psychological testing, and to be diagnosed with ASD (299.0, F84.0), before receiving ABA services. Genesis provides testing and diagnosis for ASD for your convenience. Tricare insurance members will need to have their PCP affirm the ASD diagnosis for services to be covered.
We work hard to schedule your child for testing as soon as possible. The time before your first appointment depends on many factors but usually, we can schedule a child within a few months which is must faster than other companies where the wait can be more than a year.
Genesis provides best-in-class testing that is based on the needs of your child which will be determined by your Genesis psychologist at the first appointment. The tests will include the ADOS-2 which is the gold standard in assessing for ASD. We describe the steps involved in the testing process on the Diagnosis page of our website.
Yes, insurance covers ABA services and we accept most major insurance plans. After we review your learner’s customized treatment plan we will submit this plan to the insurance company for approval and authorization of services. This step can take several weeks to complete. See our webpage for Parents and Guardians that explains the steps for more information.
